Criminals are getting increasingly better at social engineering: they use information that can be found on the Internet (website, LinkedIn, Facebook) to convince you with a credible story. On behalf of one of our contacts we have recently received an invitation for a dropbox document, a so-called 'business proposal'. We contacted this person by the email address in our CRM platform to ask him if he had sent it, because this was a peculiar message. A few seconds later we were told to look at the business proposal by clicking a link - it looked like an out of office message. That immediately set off alarm bells.

Notify the authorities in case of hacking
Notify the incident to the CERT (federal Computer Emergency Response Team) via this report form. You can also report the incident to the local police. They will pass on the information to the Federal Computer Crime Unit, who will start an investigation. If personal data should get lost during the incident, the Data Protection Authority must be notified within 72 hours after discovery. (Source: FOD Economie)
