Diversity on the work floor: a substantial challenge

Diversity on the work floor: a substantial challenge

We’re all different and that’s a good thing, too. However, sometimes these differences lead to incidents at and beyond the production line such as deliberate contamination or excessive bullying.

A few examples of differences that lead to incidents:
- an employee disagrees with a superior’s approach to the rules on personal hygiene
- another employee doesn’t agree on how tidiness in the refectory is dealt with
- or someone else has a problem with a colleague’s overall behaviour or with the way he expresses his convictions…

The 3 tips!

Provide a culture of what’s acceptable and what’s not

Your employees must know that certain behaviour isn’t condoned in a food company.

Take action at the first signs of undesirable behaviour

Provide your employees with immediate feedback in case ofunacceptable behaviour. Having formal and informal leaders setting the right example is essential.

Weet wat leeft onder uw mensen!

Keep your ears open for what happens in your company

Good informal contacts whereby growing irritation or difficulties can be discussed, allow you to take rapid action.
